Hi everyone!!
So I realized I haven’t talked a whole lot about what my team and I have been up to here in Thailand.
First I want to say that there is so much I can’t talk about regarding the ministry here due to the contract that I signed. But I can give a brief overview of what we did.
Our entire team is a group of 11 so we split up. Half of us went to an after school program and the rest of us worked with women from various difficult situations.
So for the first two weeks we organized and painted a safe house that we were working on, painted Christmas cards that the ladies could sell, and just helped out in whatever way we could.
But this last week of ministry we have actually been able to work with the women. Which has been amazing. We worked in one of the red light districts here in Chaing Mai. We taught English classes, taught an exercise class, and went to bars and built relationships with the women there. I also stepped out of my comfort zone by leading a Bible study with some of the women and by leading worship with the women in church.
While the ministry in Thailand was very different than Cambodia that doesn’t mean it was bad. It was just different. It has shown me how to appreciate what I have. Thailand has made me realize just how important community is. And how we as Christians need each other.
I have gained many friendships with the ladies from Thailand. And I’m very grateful to have met them and I’m very sad to have to leave them. I hope to come back one day and see how much the ministry here has grown.
I always say that Cambodia is where I fell in love with the Lord again and Thailand is the place where He has revealed himself to me more and more and He has also revealed things about myself to me as well.
The Lord is showing me how to step more into leadership and how to advocate for myself and others. I’m realizing that becoming a leader doesn’t necessarily mean that I have to be bossy and rude to others but realizing that I have strengths that can be used in impacting God’s kingdom. And I want to use the gifts that He has given me to lead. An example would be worship. God has given me the ability to sing. So I want to use that ability to lead others into worshiping Him. He has given me a gift so the least I can do is give that gift right back to Him.
I can’t wait to share everything and encourage my family, loved ones, and church family back home!
My desire as I return home is to keep my fire for the Lord going and to tell everyone of God’s love and goodness!
This is something I’ve had to learn the hard way.
Just because you can’t feel God doesn’t mean He’s not there. Just keep praising Him. Even through the numbness you might be experiencing. Just remember He is worthy of our devotion and praise.
