Our first church service in Cambodia was great. We sang about three songs during worship. All the songs were sung in Khmer but they had the English translation on a big screen as well.
Even though we didn’t speak the same language as the locals we were worshiping the same God. And that was absolutely beautiful to me.  It reminded me of Philippians 2:11. It says “and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” During worship we sang one song in particular and it brought me so much joy to hear. The song was the goodness of God. We sing this song back at my home church quite often and it brought my heart back home. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get a little emotional. It truly touched my heart this morning. To me that was God giving me a little taste of home.

The pastor is from the UK which I thought was very cool. So the sermon was spoken in English but they had a translator there for the locals. The pastor spoke about wisdom this morning.

Here’s some notes I took from the sermon:

Are you living the same way you were in the past? Do you and your actions ever change?

Do you live the simple life? That’s the way many people live. They don’t want to leave their simple ways and live. You are created with a purpose and for an abundant life not for a simple mediocre life.

Follow God and his way and you will find life. Leave your old ways of thinking and you will live.

You need to gain a new mindset.

Fill your mind with Godly and biblical wisdom.

If you don’t you will never find life.

The Bible is God’s manual for life.

You weren’t created by accident you were created for God’s purpose. Proverbs 30:24-25

You are responsible for your own potential.

You will need self discipline to develop it.

You will need to be able to motivate yourself.

We also are stronger if we work together. You can accomplish more by working together. God’s people are meant to be in a community with each other.

We are to make disciples together

We are to love each other help each other and protect each other. We are like a family.

Plan and get ready for what’s coming.

So even though the church service was different than what I’m used to I absolutely loved it. I loved being with God’s people and in a loving community. The people of Cambodia have already won my heart.
